While the 80’s seems a long time ago, I find myself in the midst of collecting vintage photos of cute looking folks with cool hair and big clothes. I’ve been looking at the 80’s fashion pictures and am fascinated by the style and how that decade of fashion captured the youth of women.
Of course, there is one trend that everyone in the 90s and beyond seems to fall back to (although in some cases, it even seems a little retro), the boho look. While the 80s was the “boho” decade, the 90s was the “80s” decade. Which means the 90s trend is the “70s” trend.
Why the 70s trend? Because it seems to have been created by men who are just beginning to look the way they do. You can’t see the 90s trend in the top 10% of the population, but it’s not too far away.
It’s not about style, it’s about functionality.
The 70s trend is the 80s trend. Its the 80s trend.
Like I said, the 90s trend is the 70s trend. It’s a trend that the 90s trend seems to have created by men who are just beginning to look the way they do. You cant see the 90s trend in the top 10 of the population, but it’s not too far away.
It’s interesting to see that, like I said, the 70s trend is the 80s trend. The 70s trend is the 80s trend. That to me is proof that a trend is not created in a vacuum, but within the context of a larger body of ideas and trends. That’s a trend that has the capability of creating its own culture. Like I said, the 90s trend is the 70s trend.
I’m sure lots of people who have been to the 80s film festival will agree that the 90s trend is the 70s trend. The 90s trend is the 70s trend. To me, thats proof, that there is something to what is going on in the 80s.
I’m not saying its a bad trend, I’m just saying it’s one we have to acknowledge. A trend is not a new thing. A trend is a body of ideas that get incorporated into a culture. The 80s trend is a trend that has the capability of creating its own culture because we’ve all seen movies starring actors like Chris Spencer, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx or even, ahem, Bruce Willis.
This trend is so much more than just cool clothes. The 80s trend has the capability to make us feel powerful. The 80s trend is able to give us a reason to be proud of who and what we used to be. The 80s trend is one of the reasons we look to the 90s. The 90s trend is one of the reasons we look to the 00s.
